Below is a list of Organizations comitted to the Preservation and Protection of the Rainforest and its Species

The Sarapiquí Conservation Learning Center (SCLC) is located in the northern lowland rainforest of Costa Rica near the town of Puerto Viejo. The SCLC works to foster environmental education in the local community and to support conservation projects to protect the Sarapiquí region's rich natural heritage.
 

 

Eco Era Reserve: Experience the Natural Way. The Cerro Nara Reserve encompasses close to 10,000 hectares of rainforest and three major rivers. In addition to the abundance of flora and fauna, the reserve is home to the watershed of the Naranjo River that extends through the central basin, past Manuel Antonio National Park, and into the Pacific Ocean.

 

Their specific mission is to preserve, protect and restore the Pacuare and Reventazón River watersheds, which are threatened by several government hydroelectric projects. Learn what you can do to support their efforts to prevent the destruction of these important natural watersheds and the habitats within them.

 

Rainsong Wildlife Sanctuary and Penjamo Community Wildlife Refuge are being created on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the North Pacific Coast of Costa Rica by conservation-minded individual landowners who are committed to stopping hunting and providing safe habitat for animals.


Based in Washington State and Costa Rica, this non-profit organization offers study tours, exchange projects and a very nice volunteer placement service between the two countries. Some of their projects are available for university credit.
